Technology for Teachers

Educators will participate in Hour of Code activities and learn about other exciting products and software to engage students in computer science. This face to face workshop would give teachers the needed training to facilitate relevant and fun computer science activities in their classroom. 

You're invited to attend one of two sessions:

  • UVI St. Thomas Campus Saturday, November 13 | 9 AM – 1 PM

  • UVI St. Croix Campus Sunday, November 14 | 1 PM – 5 PM

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required and on-site safety protocols will be enforced.

WorkshopTopics

Classrooms across the Virgin Islands are invited to join in the international Hour of Code during Computer Science Education Week with virtual support available to participating teachers. This workshop will be the first of many designed to engage the education community in the opportunities afforded by immersion in the field of technology.

Scheduled topics include:

  • Introduction to Physical Computing with micro:bit and MakeCode

  • Hour of Code: Minecraft

  • Introduction to Microsoft MakeCode Arcade

  • Planning for Computer Science Education Week (December 6-12, 2021)
